Please support these local community events. Brook Road Allotments have been pleased to be involved with the local
SureStart scheme and Fernheath Adventure Playground in their Sunday Funday Events
The FIRST SATURDAY of every August we take part in the Kinson Horticultural Society Show. This year it is on Saturday 5th August 2006 Also in August is the Friends of Kinson Common Open Day13th August 2006 where we have a stand. Now, following requests from previous winners, the prize is usually split into three roughly equal prizes. The produce supplied can only be described as impressive and has included; a 3lb+ cabbage, at least three different lettuce, beetroot, spring onions, four/five varieties of potato, onions, garlic, peas, turnips, globe artichokes, leaf beat, broad beans, carrots, rhubarb plus a range of herbs and mint. Not to mention a wide selection of cut flowers. All of the produce is normally collected, picked and/or dug on the morning of the show. We are also pleased to be working with local schools, in particular Elmrise Primary School where members are helping to set up an allotment garden and assist in the general "beautification" of the school involving the children who are doing work within the national curriculum.
